POSITIVE IMPACT OF C0VID-19 ON ENVIRONMENT

POSITIVE IMPACT OF C0VID-19 ON ENVIRONMENT

Let's not be pessimistic about all the prospect of Coronavirus pandemic as from the very beginning we are taught to have a positive perspective for every negative situation.

Well, what positive perspective we can draw from this pandemic?

As the COVID-19 spreads across the globe it is jeopardizing lives; capsizing the world economy; transforming the lifestyle but also revitalizing the environment.

How can we say that it is revitalizing the Environment?

Scientific studies have confirmed it, various social media post have popped up about wildlife sighting in urban areas and various species which was lost somewhere are returning to their home.

POSITIVE IMPACT OF C0VID-19 ON ENVIRONMENT

Presenting list of some positive impact of COVID-19 on Environment.

CARBON EMISSION CRASH

A report is published stating that “Covid-19 lockdowns could drop carbon emissions to their lowest level since World War II”.

In this report it is said that, an international study of global carbon emissions found that daily emissions declined 17% between January and early April, compared to average levels in 2019, and could decline anywhere between 4.4% to 8% by the year's end. That figure would mark the largest annual decrease in carbon emissions since World War II, researchers said. It's not clear how long or severe the pandemic will be, which makes it difficult to predict how emissions will be affected long-term. And because the changes driving reduced emissions haven't fundamentally changed the economy or the energy much of the world relies on, the declines are likely to be temporary.

Report by- Scottie Andrew

Biggest carbon crash in 2020:

-Over the past 100 years, as indicated on the graphic, a number of events have shown that dramatic falls in carbon are possible.

-Much is made of the financial crash in 2008-2009, but in reality, carbon emissions only fell by around 450 million tonnes between 2008 and 2009.

-This is much smaller than the fall in CO2 in the aftermath of World War II, which saw a drop of around 800 million tonnes.

-It is also smaller than the global recession in the early 1980s that followed the oil crisis of the late 1970s.

-During this period, CO2 went down by around one billion tonnes.

-But the coronavirus pandemic of 2020 dwarves all of these previous shocks by some distance.
In a few months, demand for energy globally has fallen off a cliff.

-The International Energy Agency (IEA) says that the world will use 6% less this year - equivalent to losing the entire energy demand of India. This will feed through to large falls in CO2.

And we all are aware that CO2 emission crash can help in lowering the globe temperature.

OZONE HOLE HEALED

The single largest ozone hole ever detected over the North Pole has finally closed, researchers from the European Union's Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS) reported.

"The unprecedented 2020 Northern Hemisphere ozone hole has come to an end," CAMS researchers on April 23 said.

WATER QUALITY

Water quality is changed all over the world some have slight variation while some have major variation.

In Venice, the water in the canals cleared and experienced greater water flow and visibility of fish. The Venice mayor's office clarified that the increase in water clarity was due to settling of sediment that is disturbed by boat traffic and mentioned the decrease in air pollution along the waterways.

Likewise, water quality in the rivers has improved massively including that of Ganga and Yamuna (India) both of which were in very bad conditions.

There are two reasons for this,-
first, the demand for water has gone down as industries are not using the water

Second, since the industries are not operating they’re not releasing toxic effluents in the river bodies.

Sample from Ganga river water can be used to study the reduction in pollution, I can suggest this because I have done similar research work with Ganga river water in 2019 which will be published on sep-oct 2020.

IMPACT ON WILDLIFE

Nature and wildlife has replenished itself. According to the Bombay Natural History Society (India), there has been a 25% increase in flamingo migration since 2019. Millions of baby turtles are hatching on India's empty beaches.

Likewise, in Alaska it is estimated that humpback whales will increase in number with less stress hormone level.

As mentioned earlier this pandemic situation have both the sides positive and negative but we are focusing only on the positives right now. Below are some points suggesting the negative affect of COVID-19 on Wildlife:

-Poaching of endangered species is on the rise.
-Experts have called for a ban on the trade of wildlife.
-A tiger has a confirmed case of coronavirus in New York.
-Wildlife are roaming free, while humans self-isolate.

AIR QUALITY

Less traveling have major impact on improving the air quality all over the World.
Below is some data related to Delhi (India).

According to the Center-run System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR), the measures against COVID-19 have led to a drop in PM2.5 (fine particulate pollutant) by 30% in Delhi.

The Nitrogen-dioxide level has come down drastically with a nearly 40% reduction.

CONCLUSION- It is Fallacy to say that corona virus have 100% positive impact on the environment. You must know that environmental benefit from corona virus is moderate and that too can not be confirmed so far as the statistics is rapidly changing and the conditions are not settled yet!

DISCLAIMER- All the information has been taken from reliable sources and I have tried to give you brief and quality information related to this topic. As the situation is not settled yet, so we have to expect the constant change in data and reports.

WOMEN ON FRONT FOOT IN BOOMING OF FORENSIC SCIENCE (An international overview)

WOMEN ON FRONT FOOT IN BOOMING OF FORENSIC SCIENCE (An international overview) This is Not a feminist perspective. Shocked? Don't be, sorry boys we are not on equal ground in the field of forensics and this inequality has nothing to do with the rights provided by law. Recently an article says that women are at forefront in booming of forensic field and I can support this statement with evidence. Technological progress had a profound impact on the development of forensic analysis- from DNA typing to retinal scanning, from chemistry to physics; from genetics to entomology; from ballistics to botany development of any sort in these feild have aided somehow in forensic investigations (Forensic to other discipline:  Kabhi Kabhi Lagta hai Apun hi Bhagwan hai ). Being multi-disciplinary subject, forensic involve a wide number of scientists specializing in different disciplines and to cover continuous demand for forensic services, scientists are required to process a l
